Israeli Assault Against Gaza: Emergency Meeting In Arab League Under Moroccan Chairmanship

The Council of the Arab League held, on Monday in Cairo, an emergency meeting at the level of permanent delegates, under the chairmanship of Morocco, to discuss the latest developments of the Palestinian issue in light of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza strip.

The meeting also touched on the follow-up of the implementation of decisions by the Council of Arab Foreign Ministers, during its meeting dated June 14, the review of measures to take in order to protect the Palestinian people against attacks by the Israeli army and the support for efforts to achieve a lasting cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip.

Speaking at the meeting, which was attended by a Palestinian delegation led by Azzam al-Ahmad, member of the Central Committee of Fatah, Morocco's permanent vice-delegate to the Arab League Said El Hadi underlined the difficult situation in the Gaza Strip because of deadly and destructive attacks by the Israeli authorities on the city, which killed nearly 2,000 people, in addition to thousands injured and displaced, mostly civilians (women, children and the elderly).

In a speech on behalf of Morocco, El Hadi firmly condemned these blatant abuses seeking to weaken the Palestinian people and undermine their national unity, urging the international community to strive for ensuring peace and security in the occupied Palestinian territories.
