Laylat Al-Qadr: HM The King, Commander Of The Faithful Chairs Religious Ceremony

His Majesty King Mohammed VI, commander of the faithful, who was accompanied by HRH Crown prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid and HH Prince Moulay Ismail, chaired on Sunday at the Hassan mosque in Rabat a religious ceremony on the occasion of Laylat Al-Qadr (26th day of Ramadan).

After Al-Icha and Tarawih prayers, verses of the holy Koran were read by 13 year-old Bilal Chemsi, winner of the Mohammed VI national prize of the holy Koran memorisation, declamation and recitation.
HM the King was then greeted by the young Chemsi to which the sovereign handed a prize.
This reward illustrates the solicitude extended by HM King Mohammed VI, commander of the faithful, to the Koran readers and the Sovereign’s constant will to promote the learning of the holy book by young generations.
Then, Abdelhadi Henner Camp, from the USA, made a speech on behalf of the Ulema who participated in the religious lectures of the holy month of Ramadan 1434, expressing deep thanks and gratitude to HM the King for inviting them.
The theologians, scholars and intellectuals praised this happy tradition which has become a unique reference of the kind in the world, given the subjects discussed by an elite of ulemas from the Kingdom and of the Sovereign’s guests from the four corners of the world.
The importance of these lectures also lies in the intellectual and scientific activities and encounters held in mosques and other venues in Morocco, said Henner Camp who underlined the spirit of openness, exchange and learning that marks this annual tradition.
"We have been closely following the interest granted by Your Majesty to the learning of the Koran as well as your untiring efforts to promote and consecrate the virtues of solidarity and citizenship", he noted.
The religious ceremony was also marked by the closing of Sahih Al-Boukhari, by the theologian Abdellah Guedira, chair of the local council of Ulema of Rabat, after the fqih El Hassan Id Said, head of the imams, murchidines and murchidates training program, read out "Hadith al Khatm".
The Sovereign then handed the "Ahl Al-Quraan" and "Ahl Al-Hadith" Mohammed VI prizes, respectively to Ahmed Ben Abdessalam Kiram, Fqih, imam and preacher at the ancient mosque of Ait Iaâzza (Province of Taroudant) and Mrs Bahia El Qotbi, Mouataâ and Sahih Al Boukhari teacher at the Great Mosque of Meknes.
The Sovereign also handed the Mohammed VI prize of Koranic schools to Abderrazak Louzikiti, manager of "Al Irfane" institute of traditional education in Safi (management prize) Mohamed Ait Taleb, manager of "Ahmed Ben Attiya" Koranic school in the province of Al-Haouz (teaching methodology prize) and Ibrahim Boumaâiz, manager of "Al Imam Nafie" Koranic school in Casablanca (performance prize).
At the end of this ceremony, the worshippers prayed the Almighty to protect HM the King, crown his actions with success, bless his initiatives, achieve his aspirations for the Moroccan people progress and preserve HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid and the entire royal family.
Prayers were also said for the soul of the late HM Mohammed V and HM Hassan II.
The religious ceremony took place in the presence of the head of government, the speakers of the two parliamentary chambers, the Sovereign advisors, government members, representatives of Islamic countries’ embassies accredited in Morocco, officers of the Royal Armed Forces chief of staff, theologians who took part in the religious lectures of the holy month of Ramadan, chairmen of the local Ulema councils, elected officials and other civil and military figures.
