Tiznit-Dakhla Expressway To Generate 30,000 Direct & 150,000 Indirect Workdays Annually - Govt. Spokesman

The Tiznit-Dakhla expressway will generate over 30,000 direct workdays and an additional 150,000 indirect ones annually, The minister delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas, stated on Thursday in Rabat.
As part of the new development model for the southern provinces, launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI on the 40th anniversary of the Green March, this project has contributed to job creation during its implementation phase, generating 2.5 million workdays, Baitas noted during a press briefing following the Government Council meeting.
The construction of this infrastructure, carried out by Moroccan professionals and companies, has contributed to the development of national enterprises, thanks to the participation of 35 major construction companies, 15 engineering firms, 14 topography offices, and 4 quality control laboratories, he specified.
This project helps shorten the distance between Tiznit and Dakhla for light vehicles, trucks, and heavy-duty vehicles. The last category, he highlighted, plays a major role in economic activity, thereby reducing transportation costs and time while significantly improving road safety indicators and enhancing the attractiveness of the southern provinces.
In this context, Baitas also announced the planned construction of the Laayoune bypass, which includes a bridge over Oued Sakia El Hamra measuring 1,648 meters in length and 21.4 meters in width, with two lanes in each direction.
Construction work on the bridge began in February 2024 and will span 40 months, with an estimated cost of around MAD 1.28 billion.
