Economic And Social Upgrading Of Jerada : HM The King Launches Liquid Sanitation Project In The Province

HM King Mohammed VI launched on Saturday the liquid sanitation project in Jerada, part of the economic and social upgrading of the province.

     The project, which required an investment of 83 million Dirhams, seeks to bring lasting solution to urbanization problems, improving the living environment of population, improve the attractiveness of the city of Jerada and preserve the environment.

Co-financed by the National water and electricity office and the national sanitation program, the project will be completed in 24 months. It will mainly consist in expanding the sanitation network, consolidate the rain water evacuation network, build two pumping plants, and build an aerated pond-type water treatment plant with a daily flow of 2,900 cubic meters.

   The project is a component of the “liquid sanitation” section of the social and economic development and upgrading program of the province of Jerada that also includes the consolidation of the liquid sanitation network of the urban commune of Ain Bni Mathar, for a total cost of 28 million DH.

The program, worth, 314.1 million DH, for which a financing convention was signed on June 4, 2012 under the chairmanship of HM King Mohammed VI, also schedules upgrading of 8 communes, consolidating the drinking water network, supporting farming projects, creating jobs, building a specialized unit for the treatment of silicosis diseases, and purchasing five ambulances and two mobile medical units.

Targetting a population of 134,000 personnes, the program is the fruit of partnership between the ministerial departments of interior, housing, urbanism and urban policy, agriculture and fisheries and health.

Projects scheduled in this program are carried out at a rate ranging between 40 to 100 pc.
