Lower House Speaker Delivers Speech before Mexico's Chamber of Deputies

Mexico's Chamber of Deputies dedicated on Tuesday a plenary session to welcome Morocco's lower house speaker, Rachid Talbi Alami, who delivered, on this occasion, a speech before the members of the lower house of the Mexican Congress.

In his speech, Mr. Talbi Alami noted that although Mexico and Morocco are located on two distant continents, the two countries share the same values as well as the same concerns and are mobilised to face the same challenges.

He mentioned, in this regard, the issues of irregular migration, climate change, terrorism and organized crime, adding that the two countries are mobilizing significant financial, logistical and human resources to “preserve our security and that of the entire international community”.

Mr. Talbi Alami, who is leading a delegation of presidents of parliamentary groups, on a two-day visit to this Latin American country, pointed out that Rabat and Mexico must continue to work together to promote "fair international relations, based on respect for international law, peaceful resolution of conflicts and reinforcement of peace and security, in particular through respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States”.

The Moroccan official welcomed, on this occasion, a “friendship fostered by cultural depth and common values and imbued with a strong symbolic, human and lasting dimension”, stressing Morocco’s firm will, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to strengthen its relations with Mexico to establish a “diversified, multidimensional and sustainable partnership”.

Speaking during this session, held in the presence of the Moroccan ambassador to Mexico, Abdelfattah Lebbar., Mr. Talbi Alamai recalled the historical roots and geostrategic positioning of Morocco, noting that thanks to the wise vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Kingdom has established itself as a model of deep-rooted democracy and sustained socio-economic development.

The strategic maritime location of the two countries opens up huge prospects through transforming the two nations into exchange bases and connection points between the world's leading economies and between two promising continents, he said.

He also underlined the importance of “taking advantage of all these factors to meet common challenges, strengthen our cooperation and develop our political relations to fulfill the aspirations of our two peoples."

The parliamentary delegation led by Mr. Talbi Alami includes Mohamed Chaouki, president of the National Rally of Independents group, Ahmed Touizi, president of the Authenticity and Modernity group, Rachid Hamouni, president of the Progress and Socialism group, and Abdellah Bouanou, president of the Justice and Development Party's group.
