Central African Republic: Morocco Calls For Internationally-Supported Emergency Measures To Prevent Deterioration Of Situation

Morocco continues to follow with concern ongoing developments in the Central African Republic (CAR) and calls for internationally-supported emergency measures to prevent deterioration of the situation, says a release of the Moroccan ministry of foreign affairs and cooperation.
In this context, Morocco welcomes the adoption of the UN Security Council resolution 2127 that approves the deployment of the International Support Mission, an African Union (AU) peacekeeping force known by its French acronym MISCA, as well as the deployment of French troops to assist it for a period of 12 months as a new decisive step that will help stabilize and settle the crisis in this African country.
Morocco also takes note of the UN Security Council decision to consider a possible transformation of MISCA into a UN peacekeeping operation if conditions on the ground require it.
The Kingdom of Morocco which has been maintaining for a long time brotherly relations with the CAR, embodied by active and diversified solidarity, has, consequently, decided, upon instructions of HM King Mohammed VI, to deploy elements from the Royal Armed Forces for the UN Integrated Peace building Office (BINUCA) and stands ready to support the Central African Republic in its path toward peace and stability, the release points out, before expressing thanks to France for its untiring efforts for peace in the African continent.
