Moroccan Government Upgrades 1,400 Health Centers Nationwide

Morocco's government has completed the implementation of the rehabilitation program for primary healthcare facilities through the reconstruction, modernization, and equipping of 1,400 health centers across the Kingdom’s various provinces, Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch said Saturday in Al Haouz.

In a statement to the press on the occasion of the launch of services at the Aït Ourir community hospital and the secondary level rural health center in Tazart, attended by Minister of Health and Social Protection Amine Tehraoui and governor of Al Haouz province Mustapha El Maaza, Akhannouch noted that an additional 1,600 centers will be included in the second phase of the program, specifying that 500 centers will be rehabilitated in 2026, with the aim of reaching a total of 3,000 facilities nationwide.

He also emphasized that this program is a crucial first step in the healthcare continuum, bringing health services closer to citizens and improving their quality, particularly in rural and remote areas.

Akhannouch also underlined that upgrading healthcare facilities across all categories aims to strengthen healthcare services and promote regional equity.

According to the data provided, 1,400 healthcare facilities have been renovated across the Kingdom’s 12 regions, representing a total investment of over MAD 6.43 billion, to the benefit of over 20 million citizens in both urban and rural areas.
