Club World Cup: Interministerial Commission To Investigate Deterioration Of Pitch Of Rabat’s Stadium

An Interministerial commission was set up to investigate the circumstances surrounding the damage of the pitch of Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat last Saturday when Mexico’s Cruz Azul was playing Sydney Wanderers as part of the 2014 Club World Cup quarter finals amid heavy rains.

Made up of the Interior Ministry, Economy and Finance Ministry and Youth and Sports Ministry, the commission will look into the circumstances of the deterioration of the pitch and will identify those responsible for such a damage as part of  linking responsibility to the rendition of accounts, a statement of the Youth and Sports Minsitry said.

Disciplinary measures will be imposed on those involved in the damage, the same source said.

As a result of the damage of the pitch of Rabat’s stadium, organisers moved Real Madrid’s game against Cruz Azul to Marrakech. The game will be take place on Tuesday at 19:30 GMT.
