HRH Princess Lalla Salma Chairs Signing Ceremony Of Several Agreements On Fight Against Cancer
HRH Princess Lalla Salma, Chairwoman of the Lalla Salma foundation for the prevention and treatment of cancer, chaired Friday in Fes, on the occasion of the National Cancer Day, the signing ceremony of several agreements aimed at strengthening the national strategy on the fight against cancer.
These partnership agreements, signed with public and private organizations, concern mainly cancer research, improving access to care for the region of Fes-Boulemane and innovative medicines for disadvantaged population, and the development of socio- aesthetic activities benefiting cancer patients.
The first agreement, signed within the framework of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) by the Lalla Salma foundation for the prevention and treatment of cancer, the Ministry of Health, the Wilaya of Fes-Boulemane Region, and the Council of the region of Fes-Boulemane, focuses on the development of infrastructure and facilities to improve access to care for cancer patients in this region.
The second agreement provides for improving access to medicines for poor patients. It was signed by the Foundation, and Roche and Roche pharmaceuticals- Morocco, and aims to enable poor patients to benefit from the most innovative Roche drugs in the field of oncology.
The third agreement, signed with L'Oréal-Morocco, provides for the creation of socio- aesthetic projects for patients on chemotherapy, mainly women in Rabat and Casablanca.
The fourth agreement, signed by the Lalla Salma Foundation and the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Training, aims to provide funding for scientific research on oncology and hematology.
The fifth agreement was signed by the foundation, Hassan II University Hospital Center, and Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah University with the aim to create a public interest group for the management of the Cancer Research Institute, and the development of research training in the field of oncology.
In a speech on this occasion, the Chairman of the Scientific Board of the Lalla Salma foundation, Moulay Taher El Alaoui commended the leadership and commitment of HRH Princess Lalla Salma and the significant progress made in the fight against cancer in Morocco.
He stressed that the continued commitment of HRH Princess Lalla Salma helped made of the fight against cancer a national priority, and improve the management of this disease and access to care especially for the poor.
Upon her arrival, HRH Princess Lalla Salma was welcomed notably by Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and training, Lahcen Daoudi, Minister of Health, Houcine El Ouardi, the wali the region of Fes- Boulemane, the Chairman of the region, the president of the city Council, the Director of Corporate and business Affairs at Roche Pharmaceuticals, Morocco, Sanaa Sayagh, the CEO of L' Oréal Morocco, jean Mark Auverlau, Director of the University Hospital of Fes, as well as members of the Board of Directors of the Lalla Salma Foundation for the prevention and cancer treatment.
