Visit Of HM The King In Mali: US 'Welcomes' Efforts Of Kingdom To Reach Solution To Crisis In Mali, Spokesperson
The United States "welcomes" the efforts made by Morocco to find a solution to the crisis in Mali, Spokesperson of the Bureau of African Affairs at the State Department, Will Stevens, told MAP.
Stevens who commented on the impact of the State visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the Republic of Mali, said "we welcome the efforts made by the Kingdom of Morocco to support the negotiation process between the Government of Mali and the groups in the north."
The implications of these negotiations, he insisted, "go beyond the Malian border," noting that "the stability of Mali remains important to global peace and security in the Sahel and sub-region in regional."
During the working visit of His Majesty the King in the U.S. last November, President Barack Obama recognized the "leadership" of the Sovereign and the actions taken by the Kingdom of Morocco in the fields of peacekeeping in Africa, conflict prevention, human development and the preservation of cultural and religious identity.
