The new cruise terminal of the port of Casablanca, inaugurated Thursday by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is an international-standard facility that will elevate the city's tourism offering and appeal and support the promotion of cruise activity at the port.
With investments of around MAD 720 million, this project is part of the restructuring and development program for the Casablanca port complex, aimed at strengthening the economic and tourism influence of this metropolis.
In a statement to the press as part of the inauguration ceremony for the new terminal by the Sovereign, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy Fatim-Zahra Ammor emphasized that this ferry terminal should accommodate up to 450,000 cruise passengers per year, noting that it is built to receive ships up to 350 meters long and 45 meters wide.
Thanks to its location on the Atlantic coast, the new terminal will boost Casablanca's tourism offering by transforming the Kingdom's economic capital into a strategic hub for cruises between Europe, the Canary Islands and America, she added.
Ammor also noted that this project aims to position the Kingdom on the global cruise tourism stage, thereby further enhancing the Kingdom's international standing.
The project involved the construction of a ferry terminal, the development of a landing stage with a total length of approximately 650 m, the installation of three gangways (one fixed and two telescopic), and the construction of a parking area with a capacity for 44 coaches.
It aims to hoist the Kingdom's metropolis to the ranks of a tourist destination of choice, strengthen its assets in terms of business and cruise tourism, and harmoniously support the economic, urban, and demographic development of the entire region.
