 Morocco is a privileged partner of the United States, said president of the State Legislative Leaders Foundation (SLLF) Stephen Lakis, highlighting reforms undertaken for over a decade in the Kingdom making it a model of democracy in the region.

 This important meeting is part of the natural extension and reinforcement of the friendship ties between the two countries, Lakis told MAP on the sidelines of the meeting by the Transatlantic Leadership Forum which opened on Monday in Marrakech under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VI.

 He said that the royal message sent to the participants in the event shows the importance of relations between Morocco and the United States.

 The head of the State Legislative Leaders Foundation also noted the economic progress achieved by Morocco "a country investing a lot in many promising sectors as tourism and industry".

 He added that the forum offers an occasion for US economic operators to explore business and partnership opportunities with Morocco.

 Around 25 US legislative leaders are taking part is the forum themed "local democracy: the Moroccan model in its regional environment".

 During the three-day event, participants will discuss "local democracy: women in politics", "food security" and opportunities for cultural and trade exchanges.
