Morocco Participates in Diplomatic Photography Exhibition in Addis Ababa

A photography exhibition themed "Ethiopia through the Eyes of Diplomats" took place on Thursday night in Addis Ababa, with the participation of several diplomatic missions accredited in the Ethiopian capital, including the Moroccan embassy in Ethiopia.

Organized in collaboration with the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the exhibition celebrated the country's diversity and rich natural, cultural, and intangible heritage as seen through the eyes of several countries' diplomats accredited in Addis Ababa.

This initiative is part of a project led by the Moroccan embassy in Ethiopia, along with the embassies of Romania, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, Brazil and UNESCO.

Ambassador of Morocco in Ethiopia and Djibouti Nezha Alaoui M'hammdi stated that the main aim of this initiative is to exhibit the photographs as captured by diplomats, showcasing their perception of Ethiopia.

The ambassador told MAP that "we want to convey to Ethiopian authorities as well as to Ethiopian citizens that we are not foreigners, we share the same daily life with them."

"We travel through the country, we have access to their cultural and religious celebrations and we want to show Ethiopians our image of life in the country," she added.

This exhibition, held until June 25, will feature a competition for Best Photographs to be selected by a jury comprising two Ethiopians and Moroccan photographer and journalist Ikram N'gadi.

N'gadi expressed her pride at representing Morocco as a member of the jury for the competition organized as part of this exhibition, pointing out that among the 350 photographs exhibited, around one hundred had been selected for the competition.

Proceeds from the sale of these photographs will go to support young Ethiopian artists.
