Morocco Opens Honorary Consulate in Bolivia

Morocco has inaugurated on Wednesday an honorary consulate in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia’s most populous and economically vital city.

Ambassador Amin Chaoudri officially appointed Juan Murillo Dencker as honorary consul during a ceremony attended by local political, economic, and cultural figures.

Murillo Dencker boasts a long career in the entrepreneurial, academic and cultural sectors, reflecting Morocco's choice to entrust leading local figures with strengthening ties with Bolivia.

The new consulate aims to boost Morocco-Bolivia ties in trade, investment, tourism, and cultural exchange.

On this occasion, Ambassador Chaoudri highlighted Morocco's commitment to strong bilateral relations with Bolivia, based on mutual respect and non-interference as essential principles of international law.

For his part, Santa Cruz official Antonio Talamas welcomed the consulate as the first from an Arab and African country, expressing interest in deepening cooperation with Morocco.

Describing the Kingdom as an emerging and stable country, Talamas spoke of Morocco as a successful reference in South-South cooperation, with extensive experience in sectors such as renewable energies, education and tourism, expressing his wish to establish cooperation between the departmental legislative power and the Moroccan Parliament.

The consulate will also serve the Moroccan community in the region, reinforcing Morocco’s presence and South-South cooperation in Latin America.
