EU Willing To Further Strengthen Financial Support For Morocco, Boussaid

The European Union is willing to further strengthen its financial aid to Morocco to support the major reform projects undertaken by the Kingdom in the socio-economic and political fields, said Tuesday in Rabat, minister of economy and finance, Mohammed Boussaid.

"The EU has reiterated its financial support to accompany the reforms undertaken by Morocco, including tax, judicial and fiscal reforms," Boussaid told the press, after a working session with Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement, Stefan Füle.

The Minister expressed Morocco's ambition to receive more support from the EU to develop certain economic sectors.

"Morocco, thanks to its political stability and the reforms it has launched, has gained the trust of the EU," welcomed Boussaid, highlighting the strong and strategic relations between Morocco and the EU.

Füle is on a current visit to Morocco to discuss the challenges of the EU-Moroccan partnership, the reforms undertaken by the Kingdom, and EU support .

Morocco, EU Express 'Common Will' To Further Deepen 'Privileged Partnership'

Morocco and the European Union expressed, Monday in Rabat, their common will to deepen their "privileged partnership" and "excellent relations".

"Our common goal is to further deepen our privileged partnership and our long-standing excellent relations," said Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement, Stefan Füle who is on a current visit to Morocco.

The European official, who was speaking at a joint press briefing with Foreign Minister, Salaheddine Mezouar, following a one-to one meeting, said his visit to the Kingdom aims "give a new impetus to our bilateral relationship," stressing "the strategic importance of our partnership with Morocco."

For his part, Mezouar highlighted the "very strong" ambition expressed by the two parties and which "pushes us to work with intelligence and determination," noting that Morocco and the EU have agreed to enhance bilateral ties through "mechanisms that help deal with arising issues in a timely manner."

The Minister said the reforms that Morocco is undertaking and the nature of these reforms, "meet a social model that we have chosen, which is based on openness, democracy, tolerance, human rights, and the respect of universal values."
