Morocco to create Mohammed VI Centre for studies and research on water in the Arab world, says Minister

Minister Delegate in Charge of Water Charafat Afilal announced Sunday in Cairo the forthcoming creation in Morocco of "Mohammed VI Centre for studies and research on water in the Arab world" in partnership with the Arab Water Council (AWC).

This center will be a research space for exchanging scientific and technical expertise and national experiences in the areas of water resources exploration and evaluation, the minister said during the opening session of AWC's 4th general assembly.

The center will also be dedicated to strategic and prospective studies with the aim of helping policy makers, institutional actors and stakeholders in the sector of water in the Arab world to address challenges related to water, she added.

The minister stressed, moreover, the need for joint efforts to address the problem of water resources in the Arab countries.

She recalled that Morocco will host the next session of the Ministerial Water Council next September in parallel with the 3rd Arab Forum of Water.
