Morocco's minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Saad-Eddine El Otmani, said here on Monday that Morocco is working on a public policy for the promotion of handicapped persons' rights, on the basis of an integrated and participative approach.

Talking during a high-level meeting themed "handicap and development" held on the sidelines of the United Nations general assembly, El Otmani said the policy will involve all shareholders, including the civil society with the aim of defining a work plan starting 2014.

In order to harmonize Moroccan laws with the international convention on handicapped persons, the government has completed consultations with all those concerned by the promotion of handicapped persons' rights, he added noting that Morocco wants to integrate disabled persons in the post-2015 development program.

The present constitution, said El Othmani, forbids in its preamble all forms of discrimination linked to disability and provides for preserving the rights of all persons with specific needs.
