Moroccan MPs Take Part in Arab Parliament Committee Meetings in Baghdad

Members of the Moroccan Parliamentary Section participated Sunday in the meetings of the Arab Parliament’s standing committees in Baghdad, ahead of the fourth plenary session of the legislature's current term.

The delegation included MPs Mohamed Ayyach (National Rally of Independents), Khadija Hajjoubi (Authenticity and Modernity), Mohamed Lahmouch (Haraki), and Councilor Mohamed Bekkouri, head of the RNI group in the House of Councillors, the Moroccan Parliament said in a statement.

MP Ayyach took part in the Legislative, Legal Affairs, and Human Rights Committee, which reviewed the draft 2024 report on human rights in the Arab world and proposals on illegal migration and displacement. The committee also discussed a framework for drafting orientation laws across the Arab Parliament.

MP Hajjoubi joined the Social, Educational, Cultural, Women, and Youth Affairs Committee, which examined proposals on wetland protection, social entrepreneurship, and family-based economic models. The meeting also advanced plans for conferences on heritage protection, care in conflict zones, and safeguarding social values.

MP Lahmouch contributed to the Foreign, Political Affairs, and National Security Committee’s work, which included analysis of regional security threats and a draft Arab strategy against drug trafficking. The committee also presented a 2024 political report and reviewed progress on its action plan.

Councillor Bekkouri led the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee, which addressed efforts to bolster economic cooperation and support for the Palestinian economy. The meetings were preceded by a session of the Palestine Committee on April 19, which prepared a draft resolution reaffirming support for Palestinian rights ahead of the Parliament’s upcoming plenary.
