Moroccan Football's Achievements are Result of HM the King's Enlightened Vision

The achievements of Moroccan football over the years are the result of the enlightened Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, who has consistently attached particular importance to the development of sport, especially football, Morocco national team head coach Mohamed Ouahbi said on Saturday in Houston.

Speaking at the post-match press conference following Morocco's 3-0 victory over Canada in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Ouahbi also highlighted the decisive role played by the Mohammed VI Football Academy in nurturing a new generation of talented players.

He noted that Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi, who scored twice against Canada, is "a pure product of the Mohammed VI Football Academy," adding that the Academy is one of the flagship projects launched under the impetus of His Majesty the King.

"I am in the best position to speak about it. I won the FIFA U-20 World Cup with many players who came through this Academy. We are extremely proud of the Academy's homegrown talents," he said.

"Today, Azzedine Ounahi is one of its finest examples. Before him, other players also made their mark, and there will undoubtedly be many more talented players in the future," Ouahbi added.
