Akhannouch told the press after a meeting he chaired on the subject that the "Morocco Offer for green hydrogen is now being implemented."

In this respect, five operators were selected to lead six projects, totaling 319 billion dirhams in investment. Akhannouch said the international investors are from "friendly and brotherly" countries.

The selection process followed a transparent methodology, overseen by a dedicated commission, he said. Negotiations with the selected investors will now begin.

The investments will drive green hydrogen production in three provinces: Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, Dakhla-Oued Eddahab and Guelmim-Oued Noun, he noted.

These projects complement the two projects provided for by the two agreements signed in October 2024 in Rabat, before His Majesty King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron.

The first, between the Moroccan government and TotalEnergies, activates the "Morocco Offer" for green hydrogen development, whereas the second, between OCP Group and Engie, provides for conducting five projects, one of which focuses on green hydrogen.
