The extension of Morocco’s first National Action Plan on UN Security Council Resolution 1325, titled "Women, Peace and Security," was officially launched on Thursday in New York during a ceremony attended by several Foreign ministers.
This extension for the 2025-2026 period follows Morocco’s first three-year National Action Plan, presented in 2021, in line with the High Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to build a democratic and inclusive society based on gender equality.
Morocco’s new contribution continues the efforts of the first plan, aiming to consolidate the achievements made in protecting and promoting women’s rights and guiding future actions, in accordance with the reform initiatives launched by HM the King.
Like the first National Action Plan, this extension is based on three pillars, through which Morocco has achieved numerous national and international accomplishments: preventive diplomacy, mediation and peacekeeping; the promotion of a culture of peace and combating violent extremism; and women’s economic empowerment.
The development process for this extension involved all Moroccan government ministries, security institutions, and civil society representatives. It enabled the definition of updated priorities and measurable indicators to ensure the relevance and effectiveness of the extended National Action Plan.
This cross-governmental and societal approach underlines that gender equality in matters of peace and security is a national priority, fully aligned with Morocco’s international commitments.
The official launch ceremony of the extended National Action Plan was chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita.
