Evacuation operations are still underway on Sunday for residents of Al Haouafate in Sidi Kacem Province, involving several villages, as part of the utmost mobilization of local authorities following rising water levels in Oued Sebou.
Local efforts included the preventive and rapid evacuation of families living in areas near the riverbanks, particularly in “Lahmidiyine,” “Drarsa,” “Laazib,” and “Sahraoui,” where residents were transferred to safe and well-equipped zones.
These operations were undertaken by the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, Civil Protection, and Auxiliary Forces, in close coordination with local and provincial authorities, to better organize and ensure the smooth conduct of citizen transfer operations, while providing the necessary logistical and human resources to guarantee the safety of people and their property.
According to local authorities, alongside evacuation measures, essential food aid will be dispatched to populations surrounded by water after roads were cut off. These areas are not directly threatened by flooding but have become isolated due to rising water levels.
Local authorities remain on maximum alert to monitor developments in the Oued Sebou situation and to intervene immediately to provide the necessary assistance to populations in need.
