El Salvador Reaffirms Support for Morocco’s Territorial Integrity & Sovereignty Over Its Sahara

The Vice-President of the Republic of El Salvador, Félix Ulloa, reaffirmed on Monday his country’s support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire territory, including the Sahara region.

This position was expressed during Ulloa’s talks in San Salvador with the Ambassador Director General of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates Fouad Yazourh, on the sidelines of the second session of political consultations between the two countries.

"Since 2019, El Salvador has strengthened its cooperation ties with Morocco, further consolidating them with the opening of its embassy in Rabat in 2022. These actions have marked an important milestone in Salvadoran foreign policy and reaffirmed support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its entire territory, including the Sahara," Ulloa said.

During the meeting, Yazourh highlighted the excellence of relations between Morocco and El Salvador, as well as the two countries' shared interest in deepening bilateral cooperation across various fields.

He also reaffirmed the common commitment of Rabat and San Salvador to promoting peace, respecting sovereignty, and fostering development, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

He further praised the transformation dynamics initiated in El Salvador under the leadership of President Nayib Bukele, which have strengthened the country’s security, stability, and economic development.

Yazourh also expressed Morocco’s commitment to enhancing economic and trade cooperation with El Salvador.
