Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Christiaan Rebergen, commended, on Tuesday in Rabat, Morocco’s constructive role, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the al-Quds Committee, to instaure peace in the Middle East.
During a press briefing on the sidelines of the Fifth Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, Rebergen said that the co-chairship of Morocco and the Netherlands of this event showcases the quality of bilateral cooperation as well as the two countries’ shared values.
He thanked the Kingdom of Morocco for hosting this important meeting, which is being held against the backdrop of the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza.
The Dutch official also reiterated his country's position in support of the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid to the region, in accordance with international humanitarian law.
The meeting aims to establish concrete, time-bound measures to relaunch the Two-State solution, and to take stock of efforts to promote peace in the Middle East. It will also look at ways of building the Palestinian economy.
The resolutions of this meeting will contribute to the work of the high-level conference for the Two-State solution, scheduled to take place at the UN headquarters in New York in June 2025.
Launched on the UN General Assembly High-Level Week in September 2024, the Global Alliance is a diplomatic platform dedicated to the effective relaunch of the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. This fifth meeting follows four others held in Riyadh, Brussels, Oslo and Cairo.
