Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tahraoui, stated that the creation, by Order of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, of regional platforms for essential emergency reserves will strengthen the capacity of health system’s for rapid intervention in emergency situations.
In a statement to the press on the occasion of His Majesty the King's launch, on Wednesday, of the construction of the essential reserves platform for the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, the Minister noted that these platforms will be equipped with advanced medical and healthcare equipment to enable a rapid response and immediate care for victims based on the severity of their condition, while also ensuring the continuity of basic health services during the first hours of a potential disaster.
These regional platforms will also be equipped with complementary infrastructure including mobile hospital units in each region and advanced medical posts, in addition to the provision of medications and equipment necessary for diagnostic and hospitalization phases, Tahraoui added.
The comprehensive program to establish regional essential reserve platforms will also provide strategic reserves capable of meeting three times the needs that were addressed following the Al Haouz earthquake.
Moreover, it will support the development of a national ecosystem for the production of equipment and materials necessary for the immediate deployment of rescue operations in the event of disasters.
These regional platforms, whose locations were selected based on security criteria, were designed following an in-depth analysis of the needs of each region of the Kingdom in light of the risks they face, supported by a study of best practices and international standards.
