China Says It

The Chinese government said it "full understands" the reasons behind the postponement of HM King Mohammed VI's visit to Beijing, which was due to start on Thursday.

"Moroccan authorities informed us about the decision to postpone HM King Mohammed VI's visit to China after the Sovereign has contracted acute influenza syndrome with 39.5 degree fever, complicated by bronchitis", a spokesman of the Chinese foreign ministry said.

"For these reasons, it was difficult to make the visit", Chinese official added, expressing his country's "sympathy" and 'wishes of "prompt recovery" to HM the King.

Tuesday, the ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol and Chancellery announced that HM King's official visit to China has been postponed for health reasons.
