Benkirane Stresses Importance Of Bolstering Moroccan-Belgian Economic Relations At Level Of Political Ties

Head of government, Abdelilah Benkirane stressed on Tuesday the importance of bolstering Moroccan-Belgian economic relations to measure up to the level of political ties between the two countries.

"The two countries should work together to raise bilateral economic ties to the level of political relations between our two countries," Benkirane said at a press conference at the end of the 2nd Moroccan-Belgian joint high commission in Brussels.

   The head of government said the two countries agreed on the important role of the private sector in economic and trade exchanges, and invited private operators of both countries to step up meetings and to seize opportunities for partnership offered by the two economies.

   The governments of both countries, he  said, have expressed commitment to working together to strengthen bilateral relations and consolidate cooperation.

   "We now want to build on this understanding and the achievements of our rich and diverse cooperation to give new impetus to our bilateral relations, by identifying new prospects for the development of trade and explore new ways of cooperation," he said.

   The 2nd high joint commission, held after the one of Marrakech in March 2007, culminated in the signing of several cooperation agreements in the fields of foreign affairs and cooperation, social security, human rights, gender equality, security.
