The agreement was signed on Monday by the Agency's Director General Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui and Palestinian Minister of Social Development Samah Hamad, in the presence of Morocco's Ambassador to Palestine Abderrahim Meziane.
Under the terms of the agreement, cooperation mechanisms will be set up between the two parties to implement social projects aimed at caring for child amputees victims of the war in Gaza, and guaranteeing them the conditions for a normal life, as well as the necessary psychological support provided by the Agency's clinic.
Programs will also be launched to assist orphaned children on the Ministry's lists, as part of the Al-Quds orphan care project.
On this occasion, the Palestinian Minister welcomed the signing of this agreement, which will contribute to assisting and caring for this section of society facing a difficult situation due to the repercussions of the war in Gaza, as well as all initiatives spearheaded by the Agency.
For his part, Salem Cherkaoui pointed out that the signing of this agreement is part of Morocco's efforts, undertaken on the instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, to “help Palestinians living in Gaza overcome the repercussions of the aggression on the Strip, in particular child amputees, through a donation of $200,000 provided by Morocco's Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family”.
He added that this agreement identifies the mechanisms for the Agency to tend to a number of Al-Quds orphans registered on the Palestinian Ministry's lists as part of the Al-Quds orphan care project launched in 2008. Several cases requiring psychological support will also be taken care for through the e-clinic, while partner centers in Al-Quds and Gaza will receive cases requiring detailed follow-up.
