Airports of Morocco (formerly the National Airports Office - ONDA) announced on Thursday the introduction of a new way to travel by allowing passengers to use a fully digital boarding pass, accessible directly from their smartphone.
"With just a few clicks, travelers can now find themselves in the boarding lounge. We introduce the Pax Check into the systems deployed by Airports of Morocco. This innovation accompanies usage evolution, where mobile phones became the starting point of every journey. Booking, check-in, flight information : the main steps are already done online", according to a press release from Airports of Morocco.
After checking-in online via their airline's app, travelers receive their boarding pass in the form of a secure QR code. Document verification, performed beforehand by the airlines in accordance with the current regulatory requirements, then allow for smoother passage through various checkpoints and automated gates, with no need for a printed boarding pass.
By simplifying various steps of the process, Pax Check also reduces document handling, facilitates movement within terminals and contributes to making the airport experience more comfortable.
This evolution is accompanied by a safety and security maintenance of the highest standards, in respect of national and international guidelines.
The system will be gradually deployed to all airlines that have met the technical, operational, and regulatory prerequisites necessary for its integration.
Digital boarding passes are the first step towards an increasingly digital airport experience, made to respond to changing habits and the growth in air traffic.
