Here follows an overview of statistics related to the legislative elections scheduled for September 23:
- These are the 12th legislative elections since Morocco's independence;
- 28 parties, including a coalition of political parties formed specifically for this election and two lists of independent candidates, are vying for 395 seats;
- The total of registered voters on the general voter rolls stands at 15,801,162;
- 54% of registered voters are men, 46% are women;
- 55% of registered voters live in urban areas, 45% in rural areas;
- 29% of all registered voters are aged 60 and above;
- 15% of registered voters are aged 25 to 34 ;
- Young people on the voter rolls, aged 18 to 24, account for 4%;
- 1,850 candidate lists submitted at national level;
- 7,288 candidacies registered at the national level, representing a national average of over 18 candidates per seat;
- 1,615 candidate lists submitted for local electoral districts;
- 5,505 candidates running in local electoral districts, averaging over 18 candidates per seat;
- 235 lists submitted in regional electoral districts reserved exclusively for women, comprising 1,783 female candidates;
- 2,658 registered female candidates;
- 227 incumbent members of parliament ran for re-election.
