Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity: HM the King Launches Construction Works of Social Centre for the Elderly in Mediouna

HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, launched, on Wednesday at the Lahraouiyine neighborhood in the province of Mediouna (Casablanca-Settat Region), the construction works of a social Centre benefiting the elderly, which will be carried out by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity for a global investment of 10 million dirhams.

This project promotes the social policy carried out by the Sovereign since His accession to the Throne of His glorious Ancestors and testifies to His will to ensure the conditions for a dignified and prosperous life to all sections of society, including the elderly.

Its implementation reaffirms the Foundation's commitment to act to provide social solutions in order to support fragile and vulnerable people and preserve their autonomy through comprehensive care including accommodation, catering, entertainment and medical assistance.

This facility will provide care in terms of accommodation, catering, health protection and general well-being for elderly people (+60 years) without family resources or support.

The future Centre, which has a capacity to host 48 people (24 men/24 women), will contribute to the fight against begging and vagrancy of the elderly in the city of Casablanca, thus promoting the social integration of the beneficiaries, their development and the improvement of their living conditions.

This project, which will be built on 3,920 m2 of land within 18 months, will include 24 double rooms, two lounges, a kitchen, a refectory, a consultation room, an infirmary, a pharmacy and four commercial premises.

The Centre is the result of a partnership between the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity and the Casablanca Carrière Central Association (El Fida-Mers Sultan section), which will also manage it.

The creation of this Centre reinforces the actions carried out by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity in the Casablanca-Settat Region to promote the well-being and prosperity of poor populations.
