HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa Chairs in Rabat Opening of 'The Mediterranean and Modern Art' Exhibition

HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa chaired, Tuesday at the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMVI) in Rabat, the opening of "The Mediterranean and Modern Art" exhibition, held under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI and President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron.

This major exhibition, organized by the National Foundation of Morocco’s Museums and the Georges Pompidou Center, and which runs until August 27, brings together in nine sections, both chronological and thematic, no less than eighty paintings, sculptures and photographs. It pays tribute to great artists who have marked the history of painting, such as Picasso, Braque, Miro, Dali, Kandinsky and Marquet.

On this occasion, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa was briefed on the exhibition by Christian Briend, chief curator of the George Pompidou Centre and curator of the exhibition, and by Hind Ayoubi, deputy curator of the Mohammed VI Museum, before touring the different sections of this exhibition.

The catalogue’s exhibition was handed over to Her Royal Highness by Abdelaziz El Idrissi, director of the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.

Afterwards, Her Royal Highness was greeted by some invited personalities before posing for a souvenir photo with the members of the National Foundation of Morocco’s Museums.

Upon her arrival at the MMVI, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa reviewed a section of the Auxiliary Forces that made the honors, before being greeted by Mohamed Laaraj, minister of Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mhidia, Wali of the Rabat Sale-Kenitra region, Mohamed Aouad, 1st vice-president of the regional council, Mohamed Sadiki, president of the Rabat communal council, Saad Benmbarek, president of the Rabat prefectural council, and Abdellatif Jouahri, Wali of Bank Al Maghrib.

Her Royal Highness was also greeted by Mehdi Qotbi, president of the National Foundation of Morocco’s Museums, Abdelaziz El Idrissi, director of the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Bernard Blisténe, director of France’s Modern Art Museum, Christian Briend, chief curator of the George Pompidou Centre and curator of the exhibition, Dominique de Villepin, guest of the Foundation and members of the National Foundation of Morocco’s Museums.
