Morocco signed the Global Compact for Universal Health Coverage 2030, on the sidelines of a World Health Organization (WHO) Ministerial Meeting on "The Road to UHC in the Eastern Mediterranean", organized on Sept. 3-5 in Salalah (Oman).

Rabat, 05/09/2018 (MAP) -  Morocco signed the Global Compact for Universal Health Coverage 2030, on the sidelines of a World Health Organization (WHO) Ministerial Meeting on "The Road to UHC in the Eastern Mediterranean", organized on Sept. 3-5 in Salalah (Oman).

This convention, which consolidates the commitment of Morocco in favor of the generalization of medical coverage by 2030, was initialed by Secretary General of the Ministry of Health Hicham Nejmi who chaired the Moroccan delegation, said a statement by the Ministry of Health.

Morocco is considering the effective implementation of the health coverage system for self-employed workers exercising a liberal activity at the beginning of 2019, thus completing the large-scale project of health insurance for the benefit of all Moroccan citizens and migrant residing in the Kingdom.

The meeting discussed a number of issues, including skill-building, health justice, medical coverage funding, maternal and child health services and health services for communicable and noncommunicable diseases, the statement said.
