Morocco Follows with 'Deep' Concern Crises & ‘Dangerous Developments’ in Some Countries of Muslim World

Morocco is following with "deep" concern the crises and "dangerous developments" in some countries of the Muslim world, said, Saturday in Dhaka, secretary of State to the minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mounia Boucetta.

Speaking at the 45th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in Dhaka, Boucetta reiterated the Kingdom's commitment and support for efforts to promote peace, harmony and unity in several Muslim countries facing wars and conflicts, in order to establish lasting security while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States.

This session is taking place in a very complex international context which requires a new vision for the Organization's future, based on concrete approaches capable of meeting the challenges and giving the OIC its rightful place as a major actor in the great changes that the world is undergoing at all levels.

Referring to the political challenges facing the Islamic Ummah, Boucetta pointed out that the Palestinian question "remains at the center of the concerns and attention of our countries", in the light of the decision of the United States to transfer its embassy to Al-Quds Asharif, a "dangerous" development with which Morocco has interacted with great concern and sense of responsibility, while expressing its refusal of this unilateral decision which breaches international legitimacy.

She added that the political issues on the Organization's agenda must not obscure the social and development questions that constitute a basis for strengthening cooperation and raising the level of trade among member countries in order to meet the challenges and overcome the economic crises.
