Morocco, Costa Rica Discuss Means to Promote Bilateral Relations


Speaker of the House of Representatives Habib El Malki held, Monday in San Jose, talks with speaker of the Costa Rican Legislative Assembly Carolina Hidalgo, on bilateral relations and several issues of common interest.

El Malki told MAP after the meeting that this working session, which took place on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the new Costa Rican President, Carlos Alvarado, was an opportunity to shed light on Morocco's major projects under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI as well as its reforms notably in the political, socio-economic and environmental fields.

Both parties also tackled cooperation between the Moroccan and Cota Rican legislative institutions, El Malki said, underlining the importance of revitalizing parliamentary friendship groups within the two legislative institutions.

He emphasized that Costa Rica, regarded as a model of democracy and political stability in Central America, is renowned for its defense of the great causes supported by the international community, in particular the promotion of human rights, the fight against corruption and sustainable development.

"This exchange has allowed us to notice the convergence of the two countries' points of view in these areas, and regarding several regional and international issues, in addition to the similarities between the two States, deemed as models of peace and stability in their respective regions", he pointed out.

For her part, the speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica said that the meeting was an opportunity to raise various questions of common interest, mainly cooperation for the development of renewable energies, and the promotion of human rights in both countries.

Hidalgo highlighted the importance of friendship and cooperation relations between Morocco and Costa Rica, expressing her country's willingness to take advantage of the Moroccan experience in port infrastructure.
