Morocco, Canada Discuss Means to Strengthen Cooperation in Area of Justice

Minister of Justice, Mohamed Aujjar, held talks on Tuesday in Ottawa with his Canadian counterpart, Jody Wilson-Raybould.

On this occasion, the two sides discussed the means to enhance bilateral cooperation in the area of justice and to fully implement the Memorandum of Understanding signed on the sidelines of the Marrakech International Conference on Justice, held last April in Marrakech, a statement by the Ministry of Justice said.

On this occasion, Wilson-Raybould welcomed the success of the Marrakech Conference, and commended the reforms undertaken by the Kingdom of Morocco in the field of justice, the source added.

The Moroccan minister also met with Commissioner for Federal Judicial Affairs, Marc Giroux, who briefed Aujjar on the mandate and the mission of the Office of the Commissioner for Federal Judicial Affairs, which includes the protection of the independence of the judiciary.

This meeting was also an opportunity for Aujjar to highlight the major reforms implemented in the field of justice, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, the source said.

The talks are part of Aujjar's working visit to Canada to take part in the International Conference of the International Organization of la Francophonie themed "The Saint Boniface Declaration on Conflict Prevention and Human Security: 12 Years Later".
