Immigration and Asylum Policy: Morocco Sets Example, UNHCR

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Filippo Grandi welcomed, on Tuesday in Geneva, the immigration and asylum policy adopted by Morocco, noting that the Kingdom sets the example in the field.

Responding to the statement made by Permanent Representative of Morocco to the United Nations Office in Geneva, ambassador Omar Zniber, at the 69th session of the UNHCR Executive Committee, Grandi lauded the special interest that Morocco takes in matters of immigration and asylum, as well as the actions and initiatives undertaken by the Kingdom in this area.

He also highlighted the procedure under way in Morocco for the adoption of the law on the right of asylum.

Grandi seized this opportunity to praise the excellent cooperation between the UNHCR and Morocco.

He also hailed Morocco's mobilization and humanitarian actions across the world.
