Côte d'Ivoire's Agriculture Minister Commends Relations with Morocco

Morocco and Côte d'Ivoire have great relations, said, Monday in Meknes, Ivorian minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly, on the sidelines of his participation in the 10th meeting on agriculture.

"Our relationship is great. It is a tradition since the reign of the late HM Hassan II and today with the two Heads of State HM King Mohammed VI and president Alassane Ouattara," Coulibaly told the press on the occasion of the signing by Morocco and Côte d'Ivoire of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the development and management of a logistics platform for the marketing of fruit and vegetables at the autonomous port of Abidjan.

The Ivorian official added that the two countries have excellent relations in various areas, especially in the agricultural sector, recalling the signing in 2014 with his Moroccan counterpart Aziz Akhannouch of an agricultural cooperation agreement, which provides for the setting up of a logistics platform in Côte d'Ivoire.

In this regard, he noted that the establishment of this logistics platform will allow Moroccan producers to have access to the ECOWAS market, and Ivorian and sub-regional producers to enter the Middle East market via Morocco.

The project to set up a logistics platform also aims to improve the value of trade flows between Morocco and Côte d'Ivoire as well as between the countries of the sub-region. It is also meant to directly serve the interests of Ivorian and Moroccan economic operators, strengthen their competitiveness and promote trade between the two countries.
